Graz Regional Hospital – ENT Clinic

This is the winner of a Diploma.

Graz Regional Hospital was one of the most innovative hospitals in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. Struggling to maintain its high standards in one of its pavilions, the renowned Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Clinic held a competition to renovate and extend their facilities.

The new two-storey building, clad completely in neutral white aluminium panels, establishes a subtle dialogue with the decorated facade of the old clinic to which it is connected by glass passages. Particular attention was given to the interiors, for which natural and friendly lighting was important, especially in the entrance area and waiting rooms, to reduce the stress of hospital visits.

“For the restoration and adaptation of an important art nouveau complex, and the ingenious integration of its modern and imaginative high quality extension”
