St. Tryphon’s Cathedral in Kotor

This is the winner of a Diploma.

The repair and restoration of the oldest preserved cathedral on the eastern Adriatic coast (1166) to stabilize it after the 1979 earthquake and secure it from seismic influences. It is the oldest preserved Romanesque church in the Eastern Adriatic and houses valuable treasures of fine art, liturgical furniture and sculptures.

Surprising results from research of the cathedral’s architecture affected the results of the conservation work, which allowed the original shape of the 12th century Cathedral to be reconstructed and presented. The project took place from 1987 to 2000.
