This is the winner of a Diploma.

The restoration of a late 17th century country house of English Palladian design which had fallen into a state of advanced decay. The National Trust for Scotland acquired the estate in 1995, which comprises of a Category A listed 17th century country house and estate buildings, set in a historic landscape in East Lothian.

Extensive research was carried out for the restoration work of the exteriors, the service buildings and the landscaping of the estate, as well as for the collections of furniture and artwork in its interiors. Visitor facilities have been added in the stables, allowing the public to enjoy a National Treasure which had lain hidden for decades.
