Under the EU Habitat Directive and EC Bird Protection Directive, the open river landscape has been recreated, including a natural meandering river course and delta area. The area will be maintained by grazing and hay cutting, thus preserving the open river valley scenery. The project provides leisure activities and tourism by the establishment of trails, bird hides and car parks.

“For the valuable regeneration of 2,200 hectares of wetland reserve and provision of leisure facilities in the conserved river valley.”
